No, it wasn’t a hot day at all. It was just another stressful day. One of those moments before an exam, an interview, or a presentation… and I was sweating.

I tried to keep my arm as close to my body as possible to hide a huge sweat mark, but that only made me sweat more and feel even more stressed. I couldn’t focus on being present in the moment. All I could think about was whether the people around me could see it… or smell it. OMG, what should I do?

Wear loose-fitting clothing

If you’ve ever been stuck in a shirt that feels like it’s glued to your skin, you’ll know how quickly things can get uncomfortable, and visible.

I’ve learned the hard way that clingy clothes only make sweat marks worse. Go for relaxed or slightly oversized pieces that gently skim over the skin instead of hugging it tight.

Think of fit as giving your body “breathing room.” A little space and a lot more comfort.

Wear breathable shoes

The right pair of shoes can make a big difference in regulating your overall body temperature.

Sandals, loafers, or sneakers with mesh panels help keep things cool and comfortable, while plastic or rubber shoes tend to trap moisture.

And don’t overlook your socks (who knew they mattered so much?). Switching to moisture-wicking or lightweight cotton options has been a total game-changer for keeping your feet fresh all day.

Add a layer without turning into a sauna

I’ve found that throwing on an unbuttoned shirt, a denim jacket, or a light blazer can be a real lifesaver on stressful days.

These layers not only add structure and confidence to your look but also discreetly cover any sweat marks. Just be sure to choose lightweight, breathable fabrics so you stay cool and avoid trapping heat underneath.

Carry an identical spare shirt with you as a backup

I’ve learned that having a backup shirt can be a total confidence-saver. On days when I know I’ll be sweating (whether it’s from stress, heat, or both) I pack an identical spare in my bag.

That way, if things get too damp, I can duck into a restroom, make a quick switch, and feel fresh again without anyone noticing.

It might sound a bit extra, but honestly, knowing you’ve got a clean, dry backup waiting for you can make you feel instantly more relaxed and in control.
